Leslie McMahen Dittmann loves children, music, and especially making music with young voices. As a former member of the Anne Campbell Singers and the University Singers in Lethbridge, she developed her passion for choral music. She studied music at Brigham Young University as a piano major, received her Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Lethbridge and a Diploma in Fine Arts in Kodaly Studies from the University of Calgary.
She was the Music Specialist at the Cardston Elementary School for seventeen years where she also initiated and conducted the 80 voice school choir before transferring to the classroom as a grade 4 teacher. She founded, and still continues to conduct, the renowned Cardston Girls Choir.
Leslie was one of the first recipients of the "Con Spirito Award" from the Alberta Choral Federation the first year of its inception and was honored to receive the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for dedicated humanitarian services from the Lion's Club International Foundation. Leslie has enjoyed her roles as adjudicator and clinician where she can share her passion for music with young singers.
Leslie's other love in life is her family. Her husband teaches Social Studies at the Cardston Junior High and manages tours for the Cardston Girls Choir. Her four children are all actively involved in music.
